WORK DETAILS

Sebonack Golf Club is seeking 2-3 qualified students to assist in all aspects of daily maintenance at a world-class facility. We would like for candidates to have at least 1 year of experience working on a golf course.

WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT

In addition to gaining experience in many daily course operations, you'll be doing it all at a Top 100 course that is steadily increasing its notoriety in the industry. We hosted the 2013 US Women's Open and continually provide tournament conditions to our members, so you will learn what "championship conditioning" means by the end of your time here.

We just don't work at a Top 100 course, we built it.

With so much competition in the market today, it really pays to start your career off at a top club. At Sebonack, we work to build a network of individuals and invite our interns to get to know many of our colleagues from other clubs that have previously worked here. Gain a strong network of industry professionals and get "name recognition" of your work history to begin your career.

Plus, we're located on the east end of Long Island overlooking the Long Island Sound, making for an excellent way to spend your summer.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

MAINTENANCE OF ALL TURF SURFACES

You’ll be charged with assisting in the maintenance of our championship-level course and its immaculate conditioning. You will gain experience in:

— Course setup

— Mow greens, tees & fairways

— Hand watering greens & fairways using soil moisture meters

— Chemical & fertilizer application assistance

— Miscellaneous projects around the property (drainage, bunkers, etc.)

— Cottage landscape and planting maintenance

IRRIGATION REPAIR & OPERATION

Any grounds or golf course management job requires thorough and skillful ability to manage water. At Sebonack, you’ll get a chance to gain critical experience with:

— Irrigation programming & troubleshooting

— Repairs to sprinkler heads, lines, and wiring

— Ancillary area irrigation knowledge from work by clubhouse and cottages

COMMUNICATION & MANAGEMENT

Learn from some of the best in the industry on how to effective manage a large and diverse staff over a large property. Garret and his management team will allow access to much of their operation and communication with club members, giving you the opportunity to see what it takes to keep members informed and satisfied.
