WORK DETAILS

We are seeking qualified students to join the team. Our goal is to give interns a sound footing on maintenance and management practices that they can combine with their own determination to propel them to success in golf course management.  All their day to day assignments will form steps on a ladder that can provide them a better view of the industry and how they can succeed. You will learn:

COOPERATION

WHY WE ARE DIFFERENT

Very few clubs can compare to Bethpage in size of operation combined with quality of turf conditions. We offer interns excellent tournament experience—in addition to major events on the horizon, Bethpage hosts the New York State Open annually, along with countless other local professional tournaments and corporate outings.

Due to our operation managing 90 holes, you will get a broad and complex experience in nearly all aspects of golf course maintenance. We rely on interns for much more than your typical club does, therefore you have the chance for an enhanced career right away.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Interns will spend the majority of their days on the Black Course performing:

MAINTENANCE OF ALL TURF SURFACES

— Mow greens, tees & fairways

— Irrigation and hand-watering/syringing of surfaces

— Expert bunker maintenance on large bunkers

— Miscellaneous projects around the property (drainage, bunkers, etc.)

CHEMICAL & FERTILIZER APPLICATIONS

You will also receive a lot of experience applying plant protectants, in fact you will be most likely be making applications on four of the courses within a week of arrival.

IRRIGATION REPAIR & RENOVATION

We are currently renovating irrigation on several holes on the Black Course. Interns who are here on the shoulders of the season will assist in this project. Summer interns also have the opportunity to assist and complete irrigation repairs as needed.

CULTURAL PRACTICES & CONSTRUCTION WORK

Interns who can work a longer season (April to September) will take part in aeration, vertidraining, and topdressing.

There will also be opportunities for participating in large scale construction projects, like a new 11,000 sq ft practice green that was built last spring.
